4 killed, 19 hurt as bus with wedding attendants falls off Palpa road

KATHMANDU: At least four persons died and 19 others were injured when a jeep carrying wedding attendants met with an accident in Shree Danda, Dobhan-4 of Palpa district on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Hari Prasad Rana, Yam Bahadur Rana, Min Prasad Thapa and Jaswir Bakabal of Deurali-2 in the district.

Critically injured in the incident, they were rushed to the Lumbini Zonal Hospital in Butwal, Rupandehi for treatment, where they breathed their last.

According to the Palpa District Police Office, the incident occurred when the jeep (Lu 1 Ja 2689) heading towards Jhumse from Dobhan-4 in the district skidded off the road and fell some 200 metres down at around 9 pm yesterday.

Police have said that the bus had witnessed a brake failure and lost control before plunging down the road.

Other injured are being treated at various health facilities in Butwal. Among them, 11 are said to be critical.
