Pyuthan jeep fall: 6 Swargadwari pilgrims killed, 3 hurt

PYUTHAN: At least six persons were killed and three others were injured when a Bolero jeep skidded off the road and fell about 400 metres below, in Swargadwari of Pyuthan district on Friday morning.

The identification of all accident victims is yet to be ascertained, Chief District Officer (CDO) Yedu Nath Paudel said.

Five of the deceased and two of the injured are women. The other one injured in the accident has been identified as the vehicle driver Saroj Ghale.

The incident occurred when the jeep (Ba 8 Cha 1561) in a pilgrimage to Swargadwari from Kathmandu went out of control at the steep turn and fell off the road near Rumale in the district, killing six passengers and critically injuring three others at around 7:45 am today, according to the CDO.

Meanwhile, with the help of locals and police personnel, the injured have been rushed to a primary Health Centre at Bhingri in the district for the treatment.

The incident site is 60 km away from the district headquarters.
