Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry padlocked

Dhangadi, April 26

The office of Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry was padlocked demanding the cancellation of fraud voters in the district today.

“We had no option but to padlock the office after the concerned authority didn’t heed our demand for cancellation of fraud voters,” said entrepreneur Jayaraj Neupane. The entrepreneurs accused that of the total 9,000 members of the chambers of commerce and industry, more than 4,000 voters were said to be fraud. They charged that more than 1,000 fraudulent firms were registered just to influence the election.

A group of dissatisfied entrepreneurs lodged a complaint at District Administration Office, Kailali, seeking cancellation of votes. They had also demanded that all business firms be brought under the tax system. Following the complaint, the administration office wrote to Inland Revenue Office and Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Entrepreneurs Rabin Kanta Panta and former treasurer Sanjay Chaudhary of KCCI have filed a case at the district court making the district administration office, Inland Revenue Office and Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry defendants.

The case is sub-judice at the district court. The court directed the District Administration Office and Inland Revenue Office Kailali to be present on May 3.

KCCI is scheduled to hold its election on May 5 and two panels have registered their candidacies.
