Kailali declared 'bandh' today by Biplav-led communist party

KAILALI: Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party has declared bandh today in Kailali district protesting the arrest of the cadres who have been accused of attacking the Ghodaghodi Municipality Mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary.

Market areas are closed in the district as a result of the bandh, in addition to disruption in transportation, due to which passengers have been stranded.

The cadres of Biplav-led party had allegedly shot, and attacked Mayor Chaudhary with khukuri in his own house on March 12. He is currently under treatment in Kathmandu.

Four cadres had been taken into custody on charge of attacking the Mayor. Police had arrested Kamal Chhetri (40) of Lakshmipur in Ghodaghodi Municipality-1, Bharat Bahadur Shah (36) of Ghodaghodi-9, Purna Prasad Khanal (30) of Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City-8, and Hridaya Raj Bogati (30) of Tikapur Municipality-1.

However, Kailali incharge of the party 'Mahan' and Secretary 'Amar', in a joint press statement, have denied the party's involvement in the attack on Mayor Chaudhary.
