Kandranggadhi awaits conservation

Dhading, November 16

Kandranggadhi, a place of historical importance, at Benighat-Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading is in dire need of conservation.

The dilapidated Kandranggadhi is surrounded by walls while three tunnels near the gadhi are covered with bushes.  Locals said there were some inscriptions in the area until a few years ago.

“But the inscriptions have

disappeared,” they said. The locals added that no one had paid attention towards the conservation of the historic site.

A Nepali Army team has been cleaning the area time and again.

Nepal Chemang Association chair Jitendra Chepang said the government should develop the site as a tourist destination.  He added that the site would attract tourists if the historical place was conserved.

Ward Chair Tanka Bahadur  Thapa said Kandranggadhi could be developed as the tourist destination if it was conserved. One can enjoy a view of Dhading, Makawanpur, Gorkha and Chitwan from the Kandranggadhi area.
