Kin of three persons killed during the agitation demanding an undivided mid-west accepted the bodies today.

Tikaram Gautam and Yam Bahadur BC were shot dead by police in a clash, while Gopal Singh Rajwar had died in a stampede a week ago.

The family members received the bodies after reaching agreement on conducting a fair probe into the incident and conferring martyr’s status to the deceased. Earlier, the kin of the deceased had refused to accept the bodies putting forward various conditions.

The bodies were cremated today.

The government has decided to give Rs 1 million to the family of each of the deceased and provide free treatment to those injured in the agitation.

Addressing Parliament today, DPM Bamdev Gautam informed about the compensation and treatment provision.
