Lack of fund affects work at Dhading DCC

Dhading, March 23

Daily work at the District Coordination Committee of Dhading has been affected for want of fund.

Though the committee has Rs 240 million in its internal fund, it has been unable to use the amount for want of expenditure order, which has to do with the confusion over the procedure to expend the amount following the implementation of federalism.

Earlier, the government, by issuing a notice in Nepal Gazette last year, had declared 744 local levels in the country as per the federal structure, scrapping the previous local bodies. Following the adoption of federal structure, the erstwhile district development committees have been turned into district coordinator committees.

“With the restructuring of local levels, the newly created local bodies have been given the responsibility of making plans and implementing the budget, but as nothing has been said about spending the amount in the account of erstwhile DDC, there is confusion as to how to spend the amount,” DCC Social Development Officer Binod Aryal.

“As we can’t use the money in internal fund and don’t have other source, it has affected our daily work,” he said, adding the office has been unable to foot the internet and electricity bills while various other development projects have been affected.
