Lamjung village in dark for 3 months

LAMJUNG: Villagers of Bichaur in Lamjung are forced to live in darkness after no any concerned stakeholder paid heed towards maintenance of the Arubote Micro Hydropower Project.

The Project was shut after the April 25 earthquake.

The Project of 5.5 kilowatt capacity was illuminating 27 families in the village, bordering Gorkha district, for last six years.

According to the Project chairperson Maya Gurung, the Project has asked for 50 new poles with the District Development Committee as the old ones are damaged.

Gurung further said thar Rs 2000,000 is needed for maintenance as suggested by alternative energy technicians.

Of late, 15 micro hydropower projects are serving more than 3,000 households in the district.
