Landslide buries 2 vehicles killing 3 in Butwal

BUTWAL: At least three persons were killed and another one was injured when a landslide buried a truck and a car in Tinau Rural Muncipality-3, along the Butwal-Tansen road section, in Rupandehi district today.

The deceased have been identified as the truck driver Madhav Rana of Tinau Rural Municipality, Tilak Ram Bhandari of Ruru Rural Municipality and Yam Lal Gyawali of Baletaksar-4 in Gulmi district and the injured as Bhandari's wife Radhika.

The debris fell from the height of around 500 metres at Palpa Siddhababa Temple burying the truck (Na 3 Kha 6192) and car ((Lu 1 Cha 7994), said police.

Rana and Bhandari died on the spot while Gyawali breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital.

Bhandari and Gyawali were travelling on the ill-fated car when the accident occurred.

Meanwhile, the injured has been receiving treatment in a local health facility, said police.

It has been learned that there were three persons aboard the car and one in the truck when the incident occurred.
