Landslide, flood victims to get relief

Province 3 Disaster Management Committee has decided to offer relief to flood and landslide victims in the province.

A meeting held under the chairmanship of committee Chair and Chief Minister of the province Dormani Poudel today decided to provide Rs one lakh each to those victims whose houses, clothes and food grains, among other goods, were destroyed in the disaster.

The meeting of the provincial disaster management committee also decided to provide relief to those who were displaced due to floods and landslides. The meeting also decided to direct local bodies to collect details of the damage done to drinking water projects, irrigation facilities, roads and schools, among others infrastructure, in Makawanpur, Sindhuli, Dolakha and Lalitpur. The local levels have also been instructed to forward the details through district disaster management committees.

Province 3 Internal Affairs and Law Minister Shalik Ram Jamkattel said maximum Rs 50 lakh would be provided to the local level on the basis of details provided by the district disaster management committee. He said the meeting had decided to urge all social organisations, entrepreneurs and locals to fight against the disaster collectively.
