Landslide hits vehicular movement

Dhading, August 12

Transportation service has been obstructed for the past three weeks due to the landslide that occurred along the Adamghat-Kiranchowk road section at Ramche of Gajuri Rural Municipality in Dhading.

Locals are facing problems due to landslide debris that has yet to be cleared from the road. Ward No 6 Chair Arjun Bhujel of Gajuri Rural Municipality said clearing the debris had been difficult due to continuous downpour. “The road will be cleared after the rains stop,” he added.

The locals of Gajuri Rural Municipality and Galchhi Rural Municipality have been at the receiving end due to halted transport service.

The price of daily essentials, including vegetables and fruits, has increased after vehicles stopped plying the road.

Local farmers are bearing losses as their produce has not been able to reach the market.

Arjun Subedi, a local, lamented that if someone became ill, the patient could not be taken to a health facility.

Locals said rocks, boulders and mud were continuously falling at Ramche due to continuous rainfall. They added that human settlements were also at risk of landslides and villagers had been abandoning their houses at night due to fear of mud slips.

Meanwhile, locals have submitted a written application to the rural municipality office requesting it to clear the road and ensure the safety of villagers from landslips.
