Lawmakers ask govt to pay attention to possible monsoon flooding

KATHMANDU: The lawmakers have drawn attention of the government to control possible monsoon flooding in Tarai, and provide appropriate price to the sugarcane farmers for their production.

Speaking at the parliament meeting today, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Birodh Khatiwada demanded provision for safe settlement to the 300 wildlife affected families of Manahari in Makawanpur district.

Likewise, Shanta Chaudhary of NCP (NCP) asked the government either to close or shift the cement factories in Dang district from residential areas.

Also taking part in the deliberation, Shyam Kumar Shrestha of NCP (NCP) expressed displeasure to the separate standards set for vehicular movement in some districts including Ramechhap district.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Athar Kamal Musalman said that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the parliament should not belong to the same political party.

Similarly, Asha Kumari BK of NCP (NCP) demanded that stern action be taken against the cases of trafficking of women, violence against women and ill-treatment carried out against women in Bajhang district.

Likewise, lawmaker of Nepal Peasants Workers Party Prem Suwal said that conflict of ministers on taking action against deceiving contractors was unfortunate.

Lawmakers Uma Shankar Argariya, Sanjaya Kumar Gautam, Ghanshyam Khatiwada, Brinda Pandey, Laxmi Pariyar, Bahadur Singh Lama also took part in the deliberation and raised their concerns on diverse issues.
