Lightning strike damages eight houses in Parbat

PHALEBAS, PARBAT: Lightning strike has damaged eight houses at Bachchha of Bihadi Rural Municipality-1 in Parbat district on Sunday night. A six-month-old baby was also hurt in the incident.

According to police, the injured infant has been identified as Chitra Bahadur Nepali, son of Chola Nepali, who is currently being treated at the local health post. A buffalo was killed when the cowshed of local resident Dambar BK collapsed in the incident.

The lightning strike had occurred at 3:30 am along with the downpour, informed Chief at Bachchha Police Post, Baijanath Harijan. He further said that a majority of the houses have been unlivable as huge cracks have formed inside. The thunderbolt that struck amid rainfall on Sunday night caused damage to the eight houses at Ukala village of Bachchha.

It has been raining in Parbat and surrounding areas since last night.

Meanwhile, police have been collecting data on damages.
