Locals donate labour for hydel construction

Bajura, July 2

As many as 2,300 households of Gotri, Sappta, Wai and Jukot VDCs of Bajura have donated labour for the under-construction 200 kilowatts Judigadh Micro Hydro Project in the district.

Project chairman Mana Lal Khatri said, “Local females have been actively donating labour for the project. The project has become a top priority for villagers.” Tal Bahadur Rawat, engineer of District Energy and Environment said locals from across 27 VDCs of the district were involved in constructing the project. He said residents of remote VDCs like Rugin, Bichhayna, Kanda, Dahakot and Manakot, among others, were playing an active role in the construction of the project.

Rawat further informed that around 1,319 KW electricity was being generated from 32 different projects in the district, benefiting as many as 14,620 households.

Chairman of Ekadigadh Micro Hydro Project, Min Bahadur Singh, said similar effort from the locals last year had helped generate electricity in Bahrabisa VDC of the district. As many as 14 hydro projects are under construction in the district.

District Development Committee, Bajura said the under-construction projects would generate 1,400 KW electricity after completion.
