Locals of Rautahat hail Golden Thousand Days campaign

Rautahat, October 21

Golden Thousand Days, a programme launched targeting pregnant women and infants below 2 years, has started showing results in Rautahat’s Hardiya VDC.

The programme was launched with the support of the World Bank and the Government of Nepal.

In Hardiya VDC, around eighteen groups of women are working for the implementation of the programme.

“We’ve launched two programmes related to nutritious food and safe water in the village, from ward no-1 to 9, and the programmes are showing results,” said Paramshila Devi Yadav, a leading woman involved in the implementation of the programme.

According to Yadav, some 36 tube wells were constructed in the village to ensure safe drinking water to the targeted women.

“Similarly, to ensure that the women and their kids have proper weight, we’ve distributed Sarbottam Lito, Complan, Horlicks and other nutritious food items,” said Samjhadevi Sah, another woman who is involved in the programme.

According to Sah, kids below 2 are being weighed every week to ensure that their body weight is commensurate with their age and growth.
