Madesh-based parties stage demonstration against demarcation of federal setup

RAUTAHAT: Madhesh-based political parties on Tuesday staged a demonstration in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat against an agreement reached among the four major political forces on the six-province federal model with boundaries.

Cadres of the Terai Madhesh Democratic Party, the Madhesi Janadhikari Forum-Nepal, the Sadhbhawana Party, the Nepal Sadhbhawana Party and the Tarai Sadhbhawana Party among others took out a massive protest rally this afternoon and encircled different parts of district.

They also chanted slogans against the government and federalism.

Addressing an assembly at the BP Chowk, leaders of various Madhes-based parties accused the four major political forces of trying to create chaos among the people by delineating borders of states in the six-province model.

Leaders have also blamed the forces of hatching conspiracy to dominate the Madhesi people in a new way by bringing discrimination in the citizenship in the draft of the new constitution.

On the occasion, central member of the Sadhbhawana Party Yogendra Yadav, central member of the Youth Forum Sambhu Suprim and Babulal Sah of TMDP among other leaders warned of stern protest if the major parties did not rectify their decision promptly.
