Madhav Kumar Nepal bats for national consensus govt

POKHARA: CPN-UML senior leader senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said a national consensus government was needed for at least next 20 months.

Nepal was of the view that the consensus government would be more effective to manage the transitional politics till the nation would hold the first federal elections according to the new Constitution.

"We need to move ahead taking Nepali Congress and Madhesi parties together," he said, "The CPN-UML wants to play an active role to form a national consensus government."

Currently, the UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been leading the majority government and the Prime Minister has been arguing that the incumbent government will rule the nation till the general elections to be held after two years.

However, the rival faction leader of the party today said, "Any party can lead the national consensus government."

"If we move ahead in consensus, it can establish a political system," he added that it would be difficult to continue the incumbent Oli-led government for a longer time.

"The nation will be prosperous only when there is political stability and sustainable peace."
