PM says stay in House instead as Madhesi parties walk out

KATHMANDU: The agitating Madhesi parties walked out of the Parliament on Wednesday also.

As soon as the Speaker, Onsari Gharti, announced the beginning of the House meeting, the lawmakers of the fringe parties stoop up in protest.

Speaking on behalf of the agitating parties, lawmaker Narsingh Chaudhary said that the parties would continue their agitation as Nepal's recently promulgated Constitution did not ensure proportional representation and inclusivity.

He demanded that the government met the agitating parties' demands through amendment of the Constitution and announced that they were boycotting out today's meeting.

Meanwhile, speaking at the House today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli urged the agitating parties to use the Parliament to put forth their concerns.

"[You] can speak in the House, can put forth your opinion," he said, "There is no need for other ways, going to the street."

He mentioned that he has repeatedly invited the agitating parties to come to the table for talks to get their concerns addressed.
