Makawanpur police arrest Indian nationals in possession of 70 kg marijuana

HETAUNDA: Makawanpur police have arrested three Indian nationals for their alleged involvement in marijuana smuggling, on Wednesday evening.

Two of the arrestees--Ranjan Kumar Singh (30) and Rahul Kumar Singh (28--are the permanent residents of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, India.

Likewise, Subas Ram (30) is from Motihari.

The trio were apprehended from the police check post at Bhainse, Bhimfedi Rural Municipalit2, Makawanpur, when they were found to be in the possession of 70 kg weeds.

Police also impounded an India-registered Tata Sumo (OR 05 N 4636) being used by them, the District Police Office (DPO) said on Thursday.

The DPO spokesperson, DSP Bandev Gautam, stated that the marijuana was packaged in 30 packets and hidden in a false compartment on the roof of the vehicle.

According to a statement given by the arrestees, they were smuggling the drug to India.

Meanwhile, the District Court has remanded them to custody for further investigation.

Of late, police have been arresting many Indian nations for their alleged involvement in cross-border smuggling of drugs.
