Matsari declared ODF

RAUTAHAT:  Authorities declared Matsari VDC of Rautahat the ninth Open Defecation Free zone in the district on Sunday. Matsari was announced an ODF as part of the government’s campaign to declare Rautahat district ODF within a year. Umesh Chaudhary, technical assistant at Matsari VDC,  said as many as 239 households out of a total of 635 in the village  were using toilets for a long time. “We were able to declare the village  an ODF zone after the VDC office provided financial support to build  toilets,” Chaudhary said. According to Chaudhary, the VDC had provided  refundable and non-refundable fund ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,600 to  396 families to build toilets. Speaking at the programme, Rautahat CDO  Narahari Baral asked the locals to use toilets as defecating in the open  could adversely affect health.
