Members of provincial assemblies to be sworn in tomorrow

Kathmandu, January 19

Newly appointed governors of provinces will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the members of provincial assemblies on Sunday.

To facilitate this process, the Election Commission today submitted the final results of provincial assemblies elections to the newly appointed governors of concerned provinces immediately after they took the oath of office and secrecy from President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Joint Secretary of the Election Commission Gita Prasad Timsina said the EC submitted the results of provincial elections to the governors. He said the government will have to issue a notice informing the members of provincial assemblies about the date,time and place where the governors would administer the oath of office and secrecy to them.

Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa said all governors would administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected members of the provincial assemblies on Sunday at the newly designated temporary workstations of the provinces.

“Government employees will have to work on war footing to help the governors administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected members of provincial assemblies on Sunday, but they will do that,” Thapa added.   Province-2 Governor Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha said he had planned to administer the oath of office and secrecy to members of the provincial assembly of Province-2 before 11:00am in Janakpurdham.
