Baniya warns of irregularities

Indra Baniya, minister of state for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, today warned that action will be taken against those who embezzle from the Khaptad area tourism development fund.

Inaugurating the far-western provincial festival, organised by Doti Chambers of Commerce and Industries in Dipayal today, Baniya said a committee formed to investigate financial irregularities in developmental activities in Khaptad area had submitted its report. He added that the committee found some irregularities.

He pledged necessary budget to expedite development projects in the region by taking legal action against fraudsters.

A complaint related to budget abuse is with the Commission for the Abuse of Authority.

Baniya announced that the government was preparing to release Rs 50 million to upgrade Dipayal Airport, the oldest airport in the region.

The minister also said that the agitating Madhes-centred forces would come on board and take part in local elections and the government could proceed with the constitution amendment process.
