Minister Paudel meets Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh in Delhi

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel met India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the latter's office in New Delhi on Sunday.

On the occasion, he informed the Indian side about the political situation in Nepal, including the recent amendment of constitution in order to address the demands of agitating Madhesi parties, as well as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's upcoming visit to India.

The two ministers discussed Nepal's reconstruction efforts in the wake of the devastating April earthquake and the Indian assistance.

Minister Paudel was accompanied by Finance Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and officials from Nepal's Embassy in India. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae was also present on the occasion.

Earlier in the afternoon, Minister Paudel had met India's Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh.

Paudel embarked on a three-day visit to India today to make preparations for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's purported visit to the southern neighbour besides holding discussion on the economic and development issues.

Oli is expected to embark on his maiden foreign trip on February 19. The date, however, is likely to be formally fixed and announced after Minister Paudel's visit.

Meanwhile, Minister Paudel will meet his Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley tomorrow.
