Minor abducted, murdered

A five-year-old boy, who was abducted four days ago, from Nayaktole of Simraungadh Municipality, was found murdered in Bara.

According to Bara District Police Office, kidnappers had killed Dhaneshwor Ray Yadav’s son Dipak Yadav after Yadav’s family refused to pay ransom. The child’s body was found in a bush near the village last night.

Police today arrested two youths: Harendra Kushwaha and Shyam Sundar Baitha, both aged 17 years and residing in the same tole, for their alleged involvement in the abduction and subsequent murder of the child.

Organising a press meet on its premises, DPO Bara today made public the arrested duo.

Dipak had gone to enjoy a fair at Ranibash with his grandfather on Wednesday evening. No sooner had he returned home after attending the fair than the two persons riding a motorbike kidnapped him. The victim’s uncle Ganesh Raj Yadav said the kidnappers had tempted Dipak with some cash before rendering him unconscious with ethanol and whisking him away on the bike.

“Some hours after the abduction, Harendra had called a family member and demanded a ransom of Rs one million,” Ganesh informed.

DPO Bara Chief Mira Chaudhary said police had recovered an arm band and a bracelet worn by the child from Baitha’s house.
