Mustang receives snowfall, flights suspended

MUSTANG: The Himalayan district of Mustang has received snowfall in its various parts since Wednesday night, causing the mercury to plummet and thereby affecting normal life.

Various areas of Mustang including Muktinath, Kagbeni and Jomsom are still witnessing snowfall, local people said.

The hills of the district are covered with snow, while local people are forced to confine themselves indoors due to the cold.

A local resident Gokarna Bista said that snowfall also occurred in Chhoser and Lomangthan areas of Mustang.

"There is excessive cold following the snowfall," he said, adding that the mercury went down since mid-October in the area, forcing many local residents to migrate to lower lands to escape cold.

According to Jomsom Airport administration, flights from the airport have been suspended since Thursday morning due to bad weather.
