NAC restarts Bhojpur flights

BHOJPUR: Bhojpur-Kathmandu flight that had been halted for two months has started operation again.

Flight operation at Taksar Airport in Bhojpur had stopped on August 4 after which travellers were facing difficulties in commuting to and from the district.

The flights had been halted citing repair of the Twin Otter aircraft used to carry passengers to the district, which adversely affected many individuals and institutions.

Bhojpur District Hospital refers around 12 patients a month to other medical facilities outside of the district, shared Dr Shivaji Rijal at the hospital.

"The patients were having a hard time after the flights stopped, when they had to go to other places for treatment. In lack of the flight service for a long time, during serious illnesses, patients were even compelled to charter a helicopter at a high price."

Nepal Airlines Corporation had been conducting five Bhojpur-Kathmandu flights and one Biratnagar-Bhojpur flight per week except on Sundays and Mondays.

Now, flights from Bhojpur to Kathmandu will be operated five days a week expect on Sundays and Mondays while flights to Biratnagar will be operated one day in the week, according to assistant chief at Nepal Airlines Corporation, Bhojpur, Raju Mijar.
