Narayangadh-Muglin road section upgrade in final phase

CHITWAN: The black topping and upgrading work of Narayangadh-Muglin road section connecting Prithvi Highway and East-West Highway has entered into final phase.

The 24.5 km stretch along the road section has been blacktopped while 4 km of road will be blacktopped in the upcoming week, officials informed.

According to Information Officer of the Narayangadh Muglin Road Project and Engineer Shiva Khanal, 81 per cent of works have come to an end as the first layer of blacktopping of 24.5 km has completed and the second and third layer of blacktopping works will begin from Sunday.

Moreover, the remaining 8.7 km except 500 meters of the 33.2 km long road way will be upgraded and blacktopped within May, Khanal said.

However, the project is yet to cut retaining walls along 700 meters of the section, the works have not gained momentum in that end.

According to Khanal, the contractor is currently procuring Gelatin dynamites to cut walls along the road stretching it to 9 meters of width from the current 8 meters.

The vehicular movement has also eased along the road section connecting major cities Kathmandu and Pokhara with Tarai.

As of now, the road is being black topped as per the Dense Bituminous Macadam technique followed during construction of airport runways. It has been said that the road will withstand the weight of vehicles hauling 80 tons of materials and wont degrade even under high temperature.
