NC agrees to resume Province 5 Assembly meeting

BUTWAL: The State Assembly meeting of Province 5, which was postponed on Monday, has convened at 1:00 pm today after the opposition party, Nepali Congress, agreed to resume the meeting.

The State Assembly session had postponed yesterday after the NC lawmakers obstructed the meeting by protesting province's budget for fiscal year 2018/19.

NC agreed to resume the Assembly session following talks with the Chief Minister at his residence in Butwal earlier today.

An understanding has been reached as Province Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Kul Prasad KC, would address the main opposition party's concern in the assembly meeting, Chief Minister's advisor Sher Bahadur KC said.

Main opposition party leader in the State Assembly, Baldev Sharma Pokharel, said the Chief Minister would address the session after the Law Minister's address once the Assembly concludes theoretical discussions on the province's budget for fiscal year 2018/19.

He added that they protested the budget describing it as highly distributive and ambiguous.

Pokharel said their demand is that the people's voices should be heard in the assembly.
