NC will join govt, says Khanal

Jhapa, April 18

Former prime minister and senior CPN-UML leader Jhalanath Khanal today said his party would lead the national consensus government.

Speaking at a function organised by Press Chautari Nepal in Ilam today, Khanal underscored the need of national consensus government led by his party and added that the major opposition Nepali Congress would also join it.

“There is no point in resuming any political protest in the Tarai as the fundamental Madhes issues have already been addressed,” he argued.

Khanal said that Nepal’s new constitution was democratic, progressive and tilted towards socialism.

“The way all the parties stood firm in holding the CA election, they have to stand united in the same way for proper implementation of the constitution,” appealed Khanal.

He also said that intra-party factionalism must be abolished as the party needed to move ahead with its road map.

Khanal also urged all to join hands in making necessary effort to ensure development. He said the government was preparing to introduce people-centric and peasant-centric budget.
