KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided not to allocate any major portfolio to the party leaders holding executive posts of the government in federal, provincial and local levels.

The party secretariat meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar today took this decision.

The decision would be effective to the ministers, parliamentary party leaders of the provincial assembly, federal parliament members, and chief whips of provincial assemblies, parliamentary committees' presidents, coordination committee coordinators and deputy coordinators, chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels.

The individuals holding the post of chairs and secretaries to any committees would also not be eligible for such responsibilities.

The decision was taken to make the governmental services effective and to implement the policy of one person: one post.

The meeting held discussions to intensify the party organizations merger process as it was delayed due to various causes including chair duo KP Sharma Oli's and Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visits to China and Singapore.

According to party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the task force formed to recommend the names for the provincial and district committees and sister wings for the merger process will recommend the names by mid-August.

Meanwhile, the standing committee meeting will be held on 24 and 25 August to intensify the merger process.
