Nepal to draw attention of India on SSB personnel's firing in Sunsari village

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, said Nepal would draw attention of India toward the report of Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel opening fire in a village in Sunsari district.

Speaking at the meeting of State Affairs Committee under the Parliament today, the Home Minister said the government would write to the Kathmandu-based Indian embassy via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express its concern over the incident.

Manoj Yadav, Ashok Yadav, Saroj Yadav and Naresh Yadav were injured in the police firing in Haripur-7 of Sunsari district this morning.

According to Minister Basnet, they were hit by bullets while they were within 100 metres of the border on Nepal side.

They were bringing chemical fertilisers on bicycles from India, according to the Minister.

Speaking at the meeting, Basnet said the government was sensitive toward problems people are facing due to shortage of petroleum products and daily essentials and it is working to normalise the disturbed life.

The government is committed to maintaining peace and security in the Tarai districts, he added.
