KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he was not in favour of awarding contract for the construction of Kathmandu-Tarai fast track to any foreign company.

"The erstwhile government's decision to construct the fast-track road by Nepal on its own was made on my initiative," Prime Minister Dahal stated, "I was the Coordinator of High-level Political Committee at the moment."

According to him, the rumour regarding the construction of fast-track by foreign company was completely baseless. "All sides should be clear about this," he added.

In a meeting with a delegation of National Concerns Campaign at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) at Singhadarbar  on Monday, PM Dahal assured that the Government of Nepal itself would construct the national pride projects and urged the delegation to not harbour any doubt on it.

"This is not the time to speak much rather to act more. I am serious towards the concerns shown on the national issues. There are piles up of problems and can only be translated into opportunity through collaborative working approach," he added.

He also made it clear that the government would not sign any agreements against the national interest of the country and would take all out efforts to bring together all parties for the implementation of the new constitution.

The Prime Minister pledged that he would adopt modest approach abstaining from the extremist tendency of pushing the country to further poverty without capitalising existing resources and undermining nationality in the name of becoming rich.

On the occasion, the delegation comprising former governor Deependra Bahadur Kshetry, Prof Dr Hari Pandit, Dr Dwarikanath Dhungel, Ratna Sansar Shrestha, Lok Bahadur Rawat, Bharat Bahadur Shahi and Dr Mangal Biswokarma drew the Prime Minister's attention to construct the national pride projects including Kathmandu-Terai fast track on its own investment.
