NC making efforts to bring all forces on board, says Deuba

Kathmandu, February 4

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today said his party was making efforts to take all forces on board for effective implementation of the constitution.

Addressing a training programme organised by the party’s sister wing Nepal National Magar Union at NC party office in Sanepa, Deuba said NC would fulfil its responsibility as it had done in the past.

Arguing that communist forces could join mainstream politics due to the efforts of the Nepali Congress, he said questioned their rationale for killing thousands of people if they ultimately wanted to join mainstream politics.

NC senior leader Ramchandra Paudel appealed to party workers to prepare for civic polls.

Meanwhile, addressing the event, President of Nepal Student Union Nain Singh Mahar said the main opposition CPN-UML was misleading people in the name of patriotism.

Meanwhile, unsatisfied party cadres of Solukhumbu district demanded fresh district-level conferences of the party. They had been staging relay hunger strike for 20 days at the party central office in Sanepa, raising questions over the legality of the existing district committee of the party in Solukhumbu.

Deuba assured them that their demands would be addressed within a couple of days, according to Ram Bahadur Basnet, a party leader of Solukhumbu. Party cadres have warned of launching a fast-on-to-death from Monday, if the party failed to address their demands.
