Nepali Congress Panchthar leader Nembang no more

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Bhubikram Nembang passed away on Sunday. He was 80.

Nembang was undergoing treatment for lung, kidney and heart problems at the Birta City Hospital.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family of the NC leader, who died at the Hospital in Jhapa.

“I expressed my condolences to the bereaved family. He will always be remembered for his contributions in the restoration of the democracy. May his soul rest in peace,” Deuba said.

Nembang was a former former NC Central Working Committee member and former President of the party's Panchthar district chapter.

Nembang was repeatedly jailed and exiled for participating in the fight for democracy in 1960s during the Panchayat regime, according to a statement issued by the party.

His body would be cremated at the Ninda River of Jhapa as per the family rituals.

He is survived by two daughters and two sons.
