NHRC deploys teams to probe fatal Tarai clashes

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission on Thursday deployed five investigation teams to various districts of Tarai to probe into incidents of deaths during the ongoing Madhes agitation.

Issuing a press statement, the Commission spokesperson Mohna Ansari said the teams including high officials of the constitutional human rights body have been sent to Bara, Parsa, Morang, Sunsari, Rupandehi, Mahottari and Saptari among other districts.

The Commission said at least 49 persons were killed during the protests over the new Constitution in Tarai region for over past four months.

It has urged one and all to cooperate with the investigators.
