No festival vacation for police personnel

Bhairahawa, October 7

Police personnel working in Rupandehi, the temporary capital of Province 5, won’t get vacation for the upcoming festivals- Dashain, Tihar and Chhath, said District Police Office.

DPO has decided not to grant festival vacation to its staffers. SP Hridaya Thapa in DPO said they had prepared a security plan to avoid possible incidents during the festival season.

SP Thapa said they would not go home during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals. “We will enjoy this festive season by providing peace and security to the people,” he added. SP Thapa informed that they would be deployed on duty if somebody got transferred to the DPO. “We have sufficient manpower to control criminal activities and do not have problems with fuel and vehicles for patrolling,” SP Thapa said. He said that Quick Response Team had been put on standby.

DPO has deployed police personnel to show the effectiveness of the peace and security plan in Rupandehi.  The district is well-known as a trade and tourist hub adjacent to India. Police have been patrolling in 42 places.

The security plan includes plainclothes patrolling, motorcycle patrolling, vehicle mobile patrolling on highways, at bus parks, border points, and the main chowks of the city. Similarly, DPO said a team had also been prepared for the VVIP escorting and security.
