No issue can stop constitution now, says Dahal

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Monday that the process to promulgate the new constitution would not be stopped by any issue or agenda now.

Though it would be a matter of happiness for him to opt for the chief executive directly elected by the people, Dahal said, his party was not in favour of obstructing the constitution only because of that particular issue.

He expressed his belief that the concerns of the Madhesi parties and the political forces outside the Constituent Assembly –including demarcation of purported federal states – would be addressed through further discussion. According to him, the issue of citizenship would also be made clearer.

He was speaking to a delegation from the Reporters Club at his residence today.
