NRNA Thailand extend support of Rs 1m to flood victims

KATHMANDU: The NRNA Thailand has extended their support of around Rs 1 million donation to the survivors of flood victims in Saptari district, on the south-eastern plain in Terai region.

In a statement, NRNA Thailand said the donation amount was handed over to the NRNA International Coordination Council Member Khagendra Raj Dhakal with the intention of supporting the flood victims in Saptari district.

"The amount had been transferred to NRNA Flood Relief Fund in Kathmandu through Kiskorn Bank of Thailand," it said in the statement.

Treasurer Kanchha Gurung informed that the Rs 730, 079 would be transferred to the NRNA Relief Fund for relief package distribution and to conduct health camps. Where as Rs 230,079 would be deposited into the NRNA Women Welfare Fund to distribute hygiene kits to women victims in saptari district, as stated in the statement.

NRNA Thailand President Assajita Awale thanked all the contributors for expressing their solidarity for the humanitarian cause in motherland Nepal.

Earlier,flash flood triggered by incessant rainfall for four days swept away bridges, roads and destroyed property worth more than Rs 1 billion.

More than 135 people lost their lives and 3 dozen others are still reported missing in the disaster.

Meanwhile, with the relief packages being donated from all around the globe have helped to ease the lives of the flood survivors.
