NSC records light aftershock on Tuesday morning, epicentre in Kavrepalanchok

KATHMANDU: The National Seismological Centre recorded a light tremor of local magnitude 4.4 in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

The 3:31 am aftershock of the April 25 earthquake had its epicentre in Kavrepalanchok district.

The coordinates 27.55N,85.79E, provided by the NSC show that the epicentre was close to Kattike Deurali, southeast of the district headquarters Dhulikhel.

With this, the number of significant aftershocks (of local magnitude 4.0 or above) has reached 339, according to the NSC records.

The NSC had recorded two light aftershocks at 11:27 pm and 11:34 on Monday evening. Their epicentres were in Sindhupalchok district.

Earlier, a moderate aftershock of local magntitude 5.0 was recorded in Ramechhap at 5:42 am on Monday.

The NSC said it had recorded a minor aftershock of local magnitude 3.3 in the southern part of Kathmandu Valley at 1:22 pm on Monday.
