KATHMANDU: The National Women Commission (NWC) is to make reconciliation, adopted in the course of settling cases related to domestic violence, more effective.

The Commission has today organised training for the officers directly involved in reconciliation task regarding methods, process and awareness for the same. Some 27 officers from government and non-government offices have been participating in the eight-day training programme.

Training on various issues including conflict, concept of dispute, traditional methods of dispute resolution, legal provisions related to reconciliation, importance of reconciliation, skill of dialogue in reconciliation, and preparedness to be adopted by agents of reconciliation would be imparted to the participants, said Commission's Programme Coordinator Palita Thapa.

Inaugurating the programme, Prakash Dhungana, Chief Judge of High Court, Lalitpur said that the Court has been giving priority to the complaints related to violence against women.

Training regarding social justice, human rights and justifiable resolution in reconciliation would also be imparted in the training organised through Commission's Integrated Project to control gender-based violence and address it.
