KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday arrested a person from Chandannath Municipality-6 of Jumla district in possesion of a statue, which was allegedly stolen from a temple last week.

It was reported last week that 14 idols of different sizes including the one of the four-handed deity, Dattatreya, were stolen from the Chandannath Baba Temple.

But, police said they recovered one of the idols from Satbir Kathayat (35), from Tatopani-1 of the district, today.

The suspect is said to be mentally retarded.

Police said they are looking for other suspects and further investigation is underway.
