JIRI: One person died on the spot and 10 others were injured after a lightning bolt struck them Chihandanda of Jungu in Dolakha on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Man Bahadur Karki (35), a local resident.

Karki had gone to take part in a funeral procession when the incident took place, locals said.

The injured are Tul Bahadur, Ganesh Jirel, Padam Jirel, Tika KC, Som Basnet, Badri Khadka, Ram Kumar Jirel and Dil Maya Jirel.

Of them, Tul Bahadur is said to be in critical condition.

The injured were awaiting rescue and treatment, locals said.
