Over 1,000 vehicles escorted to destinations amid Tarai bandh

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police said its personnel have been escorting various vehicles - passenger buses and trucks loaded with daily consumables including fuels - to ensure smooth supply of goods amid the indefinite Tarai-Madhes bandh called by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).

In its daily news bulletin on Friday, the NP said police provided security to as many as 412 vehicles including fuel tankers, trucks, passenger buses and light vehicles to pass to their destinations in the Eastern Development Region, on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Likewise, in the Central Development Region, as many as 374 vehicles were escorted, according to police.

Total 272 vehicles were escorted in the Western Development Region.

Meanwhile, police escorted 274 vehicles in Mid-Western Region and 102 vehicles were provided security by police to go to their destination in the Far-Western Region.

Police also helped vehicles enter through Biratnagar (Morang), Kakadbhitta (Jhapa), Belahiya (Rupandehi), Birgunj (Parsa) and Jamuna (Banke) border points, according to police.
