Over 11 thousand kids in Mahottari malnourished, nutrition programme started

MAHOTTARI: The District Public Health Office (DPHO), Mahottari has started the children's nutrition programme from Monday, after 11 thousand kids in the district were found suffering from malnutrition.

Under the programme, fortified food is being distributed to the vulnerable children in the district with the aim to nourish the children affected in the district.

According to Child Nutrition Officer at the DPHO, Girendra Jha, the fortified food (nutrition flour) packets are being distributed to the children in various places around Jaleshwar, the district headquarters, under the first phase from today.

Jha further added that the campaign of distributing packets of nutritious flour would further be expanded across the district, while informing that, "Acute malnutrition has been seen in 1,888 children and complex type of malnutrition in 9,000 children in the district".

As many as 11 nutrition units would be set up at various places of the district including Jaleshwar, Bardibas, Gaushala, Loharpatti, Pipara, Ekdara, Balawa and Ramgopalpur under this campaign.
