Over a dozen CPN cadres arrested

Pokhara, November 18

Kaski police arrested around one and a half dozens leaders and cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN for their alleged involvement in anti-poll activities over the last two weeks in the district.

According to police, those arrested were involved in obstructing the upcoming polls. Chief District Officer of Kaski Taranath Adhikari said the detainees could be released as per Election Commission’s decision. A security meeting held in Pokhara a week ago had directed chiefs of security agencies in the district to arrest cadres of the Maoist outfit and the CK Raut-led group.

Among those held are the Maoist outfit’s Gandak bureau member Kapil Bhatta, 36, and Kaski district member Sanjib Karki.  Police said five district members of the Maoist party were also nabbed five days ago.

The arrested have been identified as Bijaya Adhikari, Santosh Pariyar, Raju Bhujel, Ramkaji Gurung and Kaji Gurung. Similarly, the party’s general members Sunil Kumal, Dipak Gurung, Santosh Limbu, Lekh Gurung, Rabindra Thapa, Ram Bahadur Rai, Sobit Magar, Sagar Pariyar, Somnath Adhikari and Raju Bastola, In-charge of Sardikhola area of Kaski Machhapuchhre, were held.
