Paddy production to rise by 10pc

PARBAT: Paddy production in Parbat district is forecasted to increase by 10 per cent this year in comparison to the previous year.

This growth is attributed to timely plantation of paddy seedlings, good rainfall and favourable weather condition, according to Basudev Regmi, Chief of Agricultural Knowledge Centre, Parbat.

Parbat district had also witnessed better paddy production last year in comparison to the year before that. With the increased output, farmers in Parbat were excited during the time of harvesting.

Of the 28,000 hectares of land, paddy plantation is done on 21,000 hectares of land, the Centre said. However, some parts of the land are still barren as farmers have only the rains to rely on for lack of irrigation facility.
