Parliamentary panel’s directive to govt

KATHMANDU: Social Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Parliament today issued directives to the Ministry of Home Affairs, asking the latter to control black-marketing, ensure supply of commodities and beef up security on the highways.

The parliamentary panel also told the home ministry not to use force during agitations till it was absolutely necessary and even if the agitation posed threat to public peace, security and social order, the government should use force only within the permitted parameters of human rights and legal provisions.

The panel also urged the Home Ministry to re-establish security posts that had been removed from rural areas of the Tarai.
