Party unification by April 23: Dahal

Hetauda, March 21

CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said unification between the CPN-UML and his party might take place before the establishment day of the Communist Party of Nepal.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Centre Makawanpur in Hetauda, Dahal held that the common task force formed by the two parties had suggested merging the parties coinciding with the establishment day of the communist party.

“The unification will take place immediately after the report is submitted by Unification Coordination Committee,” he said. Dahal said talks and efforts were under way to declare party unification before April 23.

Dahal, who is also a former prime minister, said the capital of Province 3 would not be shifted from Hetauda to any other place. Stating that it was not right to spread rumours that the provincial headquarters would be shifted, Dahal reminded that only the Provincial Assembly could take a final decision in this regard.

He urged all and sundry not to run after rumours. Noting that the country had elected local, provincial and central governments, Dahal said that the government would focus on development and good governance.

He expressed confidence that there would be political stability as Madhesi parties had also given vote of trust to the Oli-led government. He said the provincial government too would expedite development and prosperity by formulating laws and regulations.
