Won't discriminate among parties, says PM Dahal

PHIDIM: Pointing out the need for unity among political parties for the implementation of Constitution, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he would move ahead without making any discrimination among them.

He warned of another crisis if the ruling parties as well as the main opposition and the alliance of agitating Madhesi parties did not joined hands for the amendment and implementation of Constitution.

He was speaking at a function organised on the occasion of diamond jubilee of Mt Kanchanjangha's ascent here in the district headquarters of Taplejung in eastern Nepal today.

As federal, provincial and local elections should be conducted by mid-February 2017 for the implementation of Constitution, the Prime Minister said, efforts are being made for holding intensive talks with the main opposition CPN-UML and the agitating Madhesi parties for the Constitution amendment at first and then opt for elections.

He opined that the parties should unitedly make efforts for the implementation of Constitution just like they stood together for rescue, relief and reconstruction in the wake of devastating earthquake in Nepal last year.

"The responsibility to bring the parties together and build an environment for the implementation of Constitution is on my shoulder as the Prime Minister," Dahal said, "For that, I am working with full dedication."

On a separate note, he also assured the landslide victims in Taplejung district of providing relief and their relocation and rehabilitation.
