PM’s daughter Bharatpur mayor candidate

Renu Dahal, Prime Minister Pushma Kamal Dahal’s daughter, will be running for mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City representing CPN-Maoist Centre in the upcoming local level elections.

The party announced its list of candidates for all posts of chiefs and deputy chiefs of the seven local levels in the district at a press meet held in Bharatpur today.

Surendra Gurung has been nominated for the post of deputy mayor of the metropolitan city in the district.

Politburo member of CPN-Maoist Centre and Coordinator of the Chitwan District Election Mobilisation Committee Narayan Dahal informed that Purna Bahadur Amgain and Sangita Bhattarai were picked as mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates of Ratnanagar Municipality respectively.

Similarly, Ek Raj Dallakoti and Rewati Upreti are the party’s candidates for the mayoral and deputy mayoral posts of Khairahani Municipality, while Ram Chandra Pathak and Kalpana Lama are the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively of Rapti Municipality.

Thakur Prasad Dhakal and Sarita Mahato, and Ram Dhwaj Dallakoti and Sabita Lama are mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively of Kalika Municipality, while Pratap Gurung and Sabitri Silwal as the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality of the district.

Speaking at the function, Renu urged party activists not to think of her only as the PM’s daughter. She said she had sacrificed a lot to strengthen the party, served as the party’s Kathmandu secretary, a politburo member, and a lawmaker.
